Week Ending 3rd May

* Acorn Class Update *
We've had an incredibly creative time in our classroom this week, filled with exploration. Here's a little peek into what your children have been up to:
Writing Adventures: We've embarked on planning and writing our very own Peter Rabbit stories, the ideas brewing in our classroom are simply SUPER! Get ready for some imaginative tales!
Fraction Fun: Year’s 1 and 2 have been diving deep into the world of fractions. From exploring equal parts with manipu-latives to hands-on investigations, our young mathematicians are mastering the art of fractions!
Colourful Creations: Our budding artists have been busy exploring primary and secondary colours in the most hands-on way possible—literally! Painting hands and mixing colours by shaking hands, they've created a kaleidoscope of new hues. It's been a vibrant journey!
Green Thumbs: Each child has been entrusted with their very own pet spider plant, they've been excellent caregivers! From observing roots growing in glass jars to preparing for their new homes in soil, they've been nurturing their plants with love and care. We're eagerly awaiting the next chapter of their growth!
Observational Skills: Using their keen eye for detail and knowledge of colour mixing, the children have been creating stunning observational drawings of plants. It's been a delightful blend of science and art!
We're immensely proud of the curiosity, creativity, and care your children bring to our classroom every day. Thank you for your continued support in their learning journey.

* Oak Class Update *
What a busy week it's been in Oak Class!
Kicking off the week with a thought-provoking whole school assembly, we pondered the question: How can shops en-sure everyone feels welcome? This discussion was inspired by the incredible Stef Reid MBE, a former Paralympian, who's advocating for sports companies like Nike to sell individual trainers to single-leg amputees. It's disheartening to hear that Nike only offered her a 10% discount.
In History, we embarked on an artistic journey through time, exploring Stone Age Britain, the Vikings' influence, and the vibrant art of 20th Century Britain. Our highlight? Channelling our inner cavemen with our very own cave paintings using charcoal!
We dove into our cross-curricular independent write, continuing to delve deep into the fascinating world of art history. Oak Class students are now bona fide experts in the various types of art created across six different historical periods! We're bursting with excitement to share our flip-the-flap books with Acorn Class next week.
In our half-term Computing unit, we've been distinguishing between hardware and software like pros! Not only did we nail down the differences, but we also crafted some stellar information leaflets to accompany our newfound knowledge. Don't forget to check them out during Class Call In next Thursday.
And last but not least, in ukulele class, we've been rocking out to "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi!
What a whirlwind of learning and fun! Here's to another fantastic week ahead!
