Week Ending 14th February

Weekly Highlights at Mossy Lea!
This week in our Picture News assembly, we explored the thought-provoking question: Should we be allowed to travel anywhere we like?
We discussed Nepal’s recent decision to increase the permit fee for climbing Mount Everest, with the goal of protecting the environment from overcrowding and littering. Our conclusion? Travel helps us learn and understand more about the world, but it’s vital to be respectful and considerate of the places we visit.
Acorn Class Highlights:
In Science, we explored the invention of modern zoos and created fact files based on Chester Zoo—did you know they have around 37,000 animals?!
In DT, we put the finishing touches on our police cars, adding axles, wheels, and flashing lights!
Oak Class Highlights:
In DT, we wrapped up our unit by baking bread, then used this experience to write our own instructions in English!
In Science, we explored evaporation and condensation by creating our very own cloud in a jar using hot water and ice!
A Special Farewell
We ended the week with a heartfelt farewell assembly for our wonderful site supervisor, John, who is retiring. He will be greatly missed, but we’re excited for his upcoming campervan adventures!
Wishing everyone a fantastic half-term break! See you all on February 24th!
