Opening of newly developed outside area

25 November 2019

It was a big day for the children at Mossy Lea today, after eagerly watching the new outdoor area being developed, Rosie Cooper (West Lancashire MP) cut the ribbon and officially opened the space.

The area will predominantly be used by the Reception class children, however, lots of the spaces created are interchangeable for both KS1 and 2 use.  The new facility will provide a stimulating outdoor environment. The Vision and Values for Outdoor Play state that "Young children thrive and their minds and bodies develop best when they have free access to stimulating outdoor environments for learning through play and real experiences."

The children from Pingawings Nursery joined in with the event, as did the school governors and parents. Special thanks to the Site Supervisor, John Worrilow and Mr Quick (Mrs. Greenhalgh's Dad) for giving up their time to build the larger equipment. Also, to Leyland Garden Centre for donating lots of plants to add to our garden area.

We can't wait to start learning outdoors!
