Week Ending 17th May

Acorn Class Adventures This Week!

What a fantastic week we’ve had in Acorn Class! In literacy, we've been delving into the fascinating world of explanation texts and exploring how they differ from instruction texts. Our investigation took us through the incredible life cycle of a caterpillar, sparking lots of curiosity and wonder among the children.

Maths

Year 1 children have been busy investigating position and direction, sharpening their spatial awareness skills.

Meanwhile, our Year 2 have continued their exciting journey through time.

Our Reception class has been hard at work manipulating, composing, and decomposing shapes, laying a strong foundation for their understanding of geometry

With the lovely, warm weather, most of our learning has taken place outside. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air and the beauty of our wonderful grounds. As we explored, we also selected some beautiful flowers to inspire our Georgia O'Keeffe artwork next week.

Here’s to another week of fun and discovery in Acorn Class!

Oak Class Weekly Round-Up!

This week in Oak Class has been an exciting and enriching journey for all our children!

We kicked off the week with a thought-provoking whole school assembly exploring the question: Why is identity important? This discussion was inspired by the recent return of Aboriginal spears to the descendants of their original owners in Australia, sparking conversations about the significance of our own identities and heritage.

Our Year 6 children have truly shone this week, tackling their SATS tests with determination and perseverance. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and resilience. Well done, Year 6!

Meanwhile, in Years 3 to 5 they have been busy channelling their creativity. They’ve been planning their own innovative openings for the epic tale of Beowulf, incorporating exciting crash, bang, dialogue sentences to bring their stories to life.

In science, we took an imaginative journey through the circulatory system, becoming blood cells and exploring how our bodies work from the inside out.

Our French lessons have been full of new vocabulary as we learnt to name various household items like tables and chairs.

In art, we’ve been honing our shading skills, mastering the blending technique to create beautifully detailed shapes.

It’s been a fantastic week of learning and growth. We’re looking forward to more adventures next week!

Stay tuned for more updates and have a wonderful weekend!
