Week Ending 18th October
What an action-packed week we've had at school! Here are some of the highlights:
As part of our continued celebration of Black History Month, this week we focused on influential Black musicians. We learned about the amazing contributions of Winifred Atwell, Billy Ocean, Labi Siffre, Sade, and YolanDa Brown. The children loved listening to their music and especially enjoyed singing "Something Inside So Strong" by Labi Siffre.
Acorn Class completed their English unit based on Funny Bones by Janet and Allan Ahlberg, and Oak Class put their English and Geography skills to the test by writing cross-curricular persuasive letters to Mr. Purcell, asking for a school trip to a European city of their choice. Great job, everyone!
We had a special visitor on our school field—a hedgehog! The children were thrilled, and we made sure to protect our little friend with one of our hedgehog houses.
We welcomed a new addition to our entrance hall—a comfy new sofa! The children were very excited to see it and have already made great use of it.
Finally, we enjoyed our homework sharing session this afternoon—well done to the children on some fantastic homework!
We also had the first annual meeting of our newly formed PTFA! If you’d still like to get involved, it's not too late—please let Antonella know.
Wishing everyone a wonderful half-term break! Don't forget to check out our pumpkin carving competition for some spooky fun!
Enjoy the holidays, everyone!
