Week Ending 7th March

Weekly Highlights at Mossy!
What an incredible RE Focus Week we’ve had at St. George’s, our collaboration school!
We began the week with an inspiring assembly, focusing on the phrase "Be curious, not judgmental." Throughout the week, the children explored the six major world religions through engaging workshops, visitors, and experiences:
Sikhism – We learned about its origins and core beliefs in a fascinating workshop.
Judaism – Our Jewish visitor, Ann, introduced us to the traditions of the Sabbath, and we even got to taste some delicious challah bread!
Buddhism – We explored artefacts and learned how to greet each other in a traditional way.
Compassion UK – Bethan led a special whole-school worship, encouraging us to reflect on the impact we can have on others’ lives.
Mosque Visit – Some children had the fantastic opportunity to visit a mosque and experience its beauty and traditions.
Pancake Day Races – A fun-filled tradition that brought lots of smiles!
Beyond learning about different religions, we also embraced the theme of being Courageous Advocates – making a difference locally, nationally, and internationally:
Plastic is Not Fantastic – We discovered the dangers of plastic pollution in our oceans.
Fairtrade Focus – We explored the benefits of choosing Fairtrade tea and chocolate, especially how it helps farmers worldwide. The children even designed their own Fairtrade chocolate bar packaging!
Rainforest Wonders – We explored the amazing foods and fruits that come from the rainforests and why we must protect them.
World Book Day was another highlight! This year, we got creative by dressing up as words, and the children put together our very own Mossy Mini Dictionary! We also had a brilliant poetry and rhyme workshop with Caroline from Lancashire Library Service, and a special story session with Des, one of our volunteer readers, who even shared a Jamaican poem!
It has been an action-packed week, full of learning, reflection, and fun! A huge thank you for your support in transporting the children to St. George’s each day or dropping them at Mossy earlier—it is truly appreciated.
