Week Ending 14th March

Weekly Highlights at Mighty Mossy!
This week in our Picture News assembly, we explored the question: How can we make connections with others? Inspired by The Princess of Wales and her children sharing their own artwork as part of the Shaping Us campaign, we reflected on the many ways we can connect—with art, music, and simply spending time together. These connections help us feel a sense of belonging and strengthen our relationships.
Oak Class Highlights
In English, we had fun creating freeze frames to bring scenes from Arthur and the Golden Rope to life and worked on forming human sentences using adverbials!
In Science, we investigated solubility, testing which materials dissolve and which don’t—did you know that chalk dust doesn’t dissolve? We also explored the difference between melting and dissolving.
In PE, we ventured across the school for orienteering, discovering new places both inside and out!
Acorn Class Adventures
In Computing, we started writing our own algorithms, making sure every instruction was just right—otherwise, Little Red Riding Hood might not make it to Grandma’s cottage!
In English, we began planning our own versions of Giraffes Can’t Dance—we can’t wait to see the creative stories next week!
In Geography, we designed our very own nature reserves, thinking carefully about the habitats and animals that would live there.
In whole-school PE, we created our own African-themed dances to Iko Iko (My Bestie and Your Bestie), using a mix of taught movements and our own creative ideas!
It's been a fantastic week of learning, creativity, and connection. Well done, everyone!
