Week Ending 4th April

Weekly Highlights from Mighty Mossy!
We've had another exciting week of learning, creativity, and exploration at school!
Acorn Class Adventures
This week, we’ve been learning all about how life in the UK compares to life for a child living in rural Kenya. The children were fascinated to discover the similarities and differences — and even built a traditional Maasai hut in our continuous provision area!
We’ve been jumping with joy (literally!) as we learned and practiced the traditional Maasai jumping dance.
Our writing focus saw us complete our non-chronological reports by researching African animals and creating our very own fact files.
For our DT project, the children designed and created their own unique tote bags inspired by traditional African patterns — the results are stunning!
In Maths, we’ve been exploring positional language like in front of, on top of, above, and below through fun, hands-on activities.
Oak Class Highlights
Oak Class has been showcasing their storytelling skills by creating their very own graphic novels, inspired by our innovated version of Arthur and the Golden Rope. We especially loved sharing our finished books with our reading buddies in Acorn Class.
In History, we’ve been diving into the dramatic events of the War of the Roses, learning about the fierce battles between the House of Lancaster and the House of York.
Our Design & Technology skills were put to the test with embroidery and appliqué — we're creating beautiful cushions that we’ll finish after the half term.
In Science, we wrapped up our unit on States of Matter by learning about Bernard Palissy, a scientist whose work on the water cycle still informs our understanding today.
Easter Fun!
To round off the term, we enjoyed our delightful annual Easter chick hunt — a much-loved highlight of the school calendar that brought excitement and big smiles to everyone’s faces!
The entries into the PTFA Egg Decorating Competition and our fabulous Easter Bonnet Parade were absolutely brilliant! A huge thank you to all the families and children for your creativity, effort, and festive spirit — we loved seeing your creations!
Well done to all our amazing learners this week! Have a restful and fun-filled break — we can’t wait to see what you’ll achieve next term!
