Welcome from Andy and Antonella
Welcome to Mossy Lea Primary School
In the words of Ted Lasso, "I believe in hope. I believe in ‘Believe.’"
These words capture the essence of what we strive for at Mossy Lea Primary School. We are committed to nurturing an environment where hope, belief, and optimism are at the heart of everything we do. As the African proverb wisely says, "It takes a village to raise a child." At Mossy Lea, we embody this principle, working together as a community to support and uplift every child.
Our vision for Mossy Lea centres on creating a place where both children and adults are encouraged to be resilient, compassionate, and confident. We provide an education that is holistic, fostering every child’s ability to achieve their fullest potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Mossy Lea is a school that blends tradition with innovation. Our small size allows us to create a close-knit, family-like atmosphere where every child is known, valued, and cared for. Here, we balance a robust academic foundation with the warmth and care that only a small village school can offer.
As the Headteacher, I am passionate about creating a school environment where children thrive – where they are eager to attend, inspired to learn, and nurtured to grow into well-rounded individuals. Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to craft engaging and creative learning experiences that cater to the individual needs of each child, fostering independence, curiosity, and a love for learning.
At Mossy Lea, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom. We value the importance of working closely with parents and carers, ensuring that together, we can provide the best possible start in life for every child in our care. Our curriculum is broad and balanced, designed to prepare children for the challenges of the future while equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
The ethos of our school is one of joy, respect, and high expectations. We take pride in maintaining a calm, orderly, and creative environment where children are encouraged to be their best selves. Through discipline, encouragement, and a commitment to excellence, we strive to make Mossy Lea a place where every child can shine.
While words can capture the essence of Mossy Lea, nothing compares to seeing our school in action. I warmly invite you to visit us and experience the welcoming, nurturing, and inspiring environment that makes Mossy Lea so special.
Please feel free to contact our office to arrange a visit at your convenience. I look forward to meeting you and showing you all that Mossy Lea has to offer.

Wrightington is easily accessible from other areas of the county. It is very close to Junction 27 of the M6. Some of the children attending the school are from the immediate locality, however many travel from further afield. We welcome kids from Lancashire, and Wigan!
